Cafe Mondegar

Mondy's - my most favourite haunt in Mumbai. I have no clue as to how old the place really is. It is crowded, smoky, cluttered, but simply amazing. Good food, great prices, and good music playing out of a really beautiful jukebox. You can spend a few hours there, reading a book, sipping a coffee while looking at the Mario Miranda cartoons on the side of your cup, or watching life float by on the streets of South Bombay.

On all my excursions to bombay, ALL my friends asked me to meet at Mondy's, which is why I have been there just so many times! Trying to read a book, trying to sip that coffee while looking at the Mario Miranda cartoons on the side of me cup, "trying" to listen to the songs on that beautiful jukebox! But i have never liked the food, nor the prices, nor the place. I have never understood the entire big deal about the place. Ever!
It's always push, shove, and noise.

I dont know if it still exists, there was an inside room (Air conditioned, no less) few years back and was your best bet to catch up with friends after work. yesss...... I have spent few bucks trying to drown myself in beer after a stressful day at work and dreading of another hour in Local trying to get home. Bombay, I loved the city but once I almost killed myself getting on a local, have no wish to spent more than few hours there again.
